We are working on a number of issues currently, including the minimum separation distance by-law, secondary plans, and Inclusionary Zoning. To find out how you can become involved, email wryimby@gmail.com You can also attend our monthly meetings, on the fourth Thursday of the month.
Many other local groups and organizations are also working on important issues related to housing, affordability, and social justice. Here are just a few of them:
A Better Tent City is a community of people living in tents and small cabins set up as an alternative to the homeless shelter system. This work is supported through the Social Development Centre Waterloo Region. There are several ways you can support this work, including making a meal and donating supplies and/or funds.
The Unsheltered campaign is led by community advocates to provide 24/7 alternatives to shelter for all unsheltered people in Waterloo Region. Find out more about this work and how you can become involved.
The local #ReallocateWR campaign asks all of us to #DemandAPlan. Read more about the campaign and how you can sign up to support this work as well.
